Onze missie is om duidelijke inzichten uit wetenschappelijk onderzoek te halen om duurzame bosbeheerpraktijken te ontwikkelen die de koolstofvastlegging versterken en tegelijkertijd de biodiversiteit en ecosysteemdiensten beschermen onder verschillende scenario’s voor klimaatverandering. We combineren technologische hulpmiddelen zoals satellietbeelden, datamining en klimaatmodellering met participatieve benaderingen om de kloof te overbruggen tussen belanghebbenden die werkzaam zijn in het veld, wetenschap, beleid, koolstofmarkten en de samenleving in het algemeen. INFORMA wordt gefinancierd door het Horizon Europe Research and Innovation Programme van de Europese Commissie

De Testlocaties

INFORMA’s testlocaties werden geselecteerd als praktische voorbeelden van diverse en complementaire bosbeheereenheden (FMU) in Europa. Zij vertegenwoordigen de vijf belangrijkste biogeografische regio’s op het continent, die overeenkomen met 96% van het grondgebied van de EU en de aanwezige bostypes beslaan 94% van het bosareaal in Europa.
